Friends of NoMa Dogs (FOND) is a charitable organization charged with the care and maintenance of NoMa’s Dog Parks. When dog owners (and our dogs) started to gather at the empty, fenced in field along 2nd St between K & L Streets NE, the makings of our organization was born.
Today, FOND is non-profit organization charged with the care and maintenance of the (future) dog parks in NoMa. The parks are being built as a part of the NoMaBid Park Foundation efforts to increase green space in the NoMa neighborhood.
With the help of Nixon Peabody’s pro-bono services, FOND is registered as a 501(c)3 with the IRS and as a non-profit entity with the District of Columbia (DC). This allows us to accept tax-deductible donations and fulfills the DC Department of Parks and Recreation requirement that dog parks be cared for by the community.
